Cruise Chics
Wednesday, November 8, 2017
So many of you know that I am into my faith. A few months ago, one of my nursing students that I had in the first semester of teaching a few years back asked if I wanted to go on a cruise. I immediately said yes, not knowing it was a Christian Womans Retreat cruise. The woman in charge and I spoke for awile and I knew I was going on the right vacation. We would be on the Crown Princess and have Christian activities while at sea.
Day 1. I barely slept. I got like 2 hours of sleep before my dad took me to the airport at 430 am. Thankful for TSA precheck because I got right through the line. At the gate, two men were fighting over a seat and threatening each other and one says, "Do you know what we do to people that are rude in Detroit?" Needless to say, my anxiety was on a little high alert. On the plane there was a little baby next to me who cried a lot because he had an ear infection, and a mom who was exhausted. I offered to help soothe him the entire plane ride so she could get some sleep. I felt like a true mom, not having any sleep myself and having to learn how to calm an upset child down. It was an accomplishment for myself and the rest of the plane when he finally fell asleep playing with my hair.
At the hotel my friend Katie and I took the trolley to downtown Lauderdale and walked the boardwalk and the beach. It was absolutely relaxing just listening to the water and being in the sun. We walked well over 4 miles yesterday in total.
The hotel has happy hour at night with free drinks and snacks. I was so tired I couldnt even drink but the snacks were yummy. After watching This is Us we all went to bed. Tomorrow our first spiritual session is at 12 and then we get to board the ship after 230 because they are disinfecting it due to the gastro outbreak that occurred on the current trip.
Lesson of the day: You never know what someone else is going through. Reach out and offer your help when you can.
